Planet 5

The Mountains
Are the Brief.

Planet 5

Built in the field.
For thirty years.

Planet 5 is a luxury mountain preservation platform founded by Dirk Collins — Emmy-nominated filmmaker, co-founder of Teton Gravity Research, and fine art photographer with three decades in the world's most demanding mountain environments. We work at the intersection of preservation photography, high-altitude specialty coffee, guardian memberships, and origin expeditions.

Our founding belief: the people who love wild places most are the ones best positioned to protect them. Every product we make, every expedition we lead, returns directly to the ecosystem it came from.

Origin Expeditions

Planet 5 leads an ongoing program of fine art preservation expeditions to the world's great mountain ranges. Each produces imagery, film, and stories that fund the ecosystems they document.

In the Field · Official Gear Partner
01

Your gear.
These mountains.
This photographer.

Peak Design equipment used and documented by Dirk Collins and his team in the field, at altitude, across Nepal, Patagonia, Kenya, and the Swiss Alps. Not a brand shoot. Not a studio arrangement. The gear doing what it was made for, in places most cameras never reach, in the hands of one of the world's great expedition photographers.

Images that earn
their place on
the wall.

Museum-quality archival prints from Planet 5's expedition photography program, available for Peak Design's NYC and San Francisco flagship stores, your digital channels, and internal creative environments. These are not product lifestyle shots. They are fine art from active preservation expeditions, shot on Peak Design gear, in landscapes that cannot be replicated.

Preservation · A Story That Is Genuinely Yours to Tell
03

Two brands.
The same
conviction.

Peak Design has been Climate Neutral certified since 2018, B-Corp certified, and a 1% for the Planet member since 2010. Planet 5's model — preservation photography as a direct economic engine for mountain communities — is a story that sits naturally inside everything Peak Design already stands for. This is not a cause partnership. It is a values alignment that your audience will feel immediately.

Co-Promotion · Shared Channels & Audiences
04

Content that moves
between both
audiences.

Planet 5 and Peak Design share an audience: serious photographers, outdoor professionals, and people who believe the gear they carry should mean something. Co-promotion across both platforms creates real reach — and a Summit Shot contest gives that audience a reason to participate.

Shared Content Program
Expedition dispatches from the field, co-branded for both channels
Photographer's journal entries — Dirk on gear, altitude, and access
Behind-the-scenes expedition footage for Instagram and YouTube
Seasonal campaign drops aligned to the expedition calendar
Email newsletter features for both Planet 5 and Peak Design lists
The Summit Shot Contest
Community photography contest using Peak Design gear in mountain environments
Judged by Dirk Collins — winner receives a signed Planet 5 fine art print
Winning image featured across both brands' channels and Peak Design retail
Drives list growth, social engagement, and earned media for both brands
Reinforces Peak Design as the gear of choice for serious mountain photographers
Proposed Next Step

One conversation.
Let's see where it goes.

01
A thirty-minute call to walk through the full expedition program, the fine art portfolio from past expeditions, and what a field gear partnership would look like in practice.
02
We share the full expedition brief including destination timelines, team composition, deliverable formats, and content calendar for co-promotion across both brands.
03
We agree on an initial expedition to activate the partnership, align on the fine art print program for your flagship stores, and confirm the Summit Shot contest timeline.
04
We build something that both brands are proud of — and that your audience, and ours, can actually feel.
"Some images document a place. Others hold it. This frame was made at 4,200 meters after three days of waiting for weather to clear. What you see is what patience allowed."
Dirk Collins · Co-Founder & Creative Director, Planet 5

We look forward to the conversation.
