Layer upon layer, the ridgelines recede into haze, each darker than the last, until the defining peak of Ama Dablam rises free of them all. The light falls across the face at an angle that reveals every fault line, every century of pressure and release written in stone. You feel the cold before you think to name it. This is a mountain that does not invite, it simply exists, complete and indifferent, and that indifference is its majesty. Thirty years of high-altitude work distilled into a single frame: the mountain as it has always been, long before we arrived to witness it.
